What to do
It's easy to move your phone number, broadband or any other Phone Co-op services
to your new address - all you need to do is to download and fill in this form -
MOVING HOUSE NOTIFICATION FORM.
Giving Notice
We need at least 2 weeks' notice for a change of address to go ahead on time, but we will always do our
best to help whatever notice is given. Broadband usually takes around 10 days to set up at a new address.
What if my moving date changes?
If your plans change, contact our Customer Services team
and we will do our best to help.
Your telephone line
There is a small charge of £5.75 to transfer your existing account and restart the telephone line at your new address. A restart is usually the case if the line in your new house has not been stopped for long.
Even if you are not an existing customer, it's quick to connect to an existing line. You can get your line rental from us for £11.65 per month or choose to pay by direct debit and get a £1 discount.
If the original number of the line has been re-allocated then wiring work may be needed. The cost of installing a new telephone line is only £57.74 if you are an existing customer moving house.
Keeping your existing number
If you are an existing customer, and are moving within the area of your local exchange, it may be possible to take your number with you - we can't guarantee this, but we'll do our best.
If you choose to retain your current number, and the line at the new property is re-numbered, there will be a re-number charge of £14.68. There is no re-number charge if the line is a new installation.
If you retain your number and have broadband please be aware that it will take 5-10 working days to cease the broadband service on the line at your old address and then a further 5-10 working days for it to be activated on the line at your new one.
If you have a cable number and order one of our Saver Packages, you won't be able to keep your number.
Your broadband connection
The re-connection charge for broadband at the new property will be £29.36.
Letting people know your new number
If you change your telephone number, The Phone Co-op can arrange for callers to your old number to be
informed of the new one. This is called Caller Redirect and costs £4.89 per month or £8.62 per quarter.
If you prefer, you can opt for Remote Call Forwarding whereby callers are automatically
redirected to your new number - this service costs £28.75 to set up plus an £8.62 per month ongoing charge, in
addition to forwarded call charges at the appropriate dialled rates.
Our engineers' tests will confirm if your telephone number is completely allocated. This means that your
number is provisional until the line is installed - any printing, advertising or publication of telephone
numbers prior to installation is done at the customer's risk.
