What is happening?
Between 2006 and 2011, BT will be rolling out a 'next-generation' digital telecoms network, which involves upgrading phone, broadband and ISDN lines.
It will affect you if your line uses the BT network -this includes all lines rented from the Phone Co-op.
If you are connected to a cable service, are a customer of Kingston Communications in East Yorkshire, or do not require a BT line for your phone, broadband or ISDN services, you won't be affected by the rollout.
Service interruptions
If you are affected there will be some disruption to your phone, broadband and ISDN services at different
times in the months and weeks leading up to the work and on the nights when your services get switched-on.
These interruptions will typically be brief, lasting for up to three minutes when phone services are switched-on
and up to 30 minutes for broadband services.
You don't need to do anything to your home phone, socket or line. No-one will visit your home or dig up
your street, and most of the work will be carried out overnight at the local telephone exchange.
When will it happen in your area?
You can visit the special BT website now at www.switchedonuk.org to see if you will be affected and to find
out your switched-on dates as they become known.
Phone, broadband and ISDN services may have different switched-on dates in your area. BT will also be sending
your business or household an information pack about a week
before your phone line gets switched-on.
